Caunes Minervois 2

talking about the accommodation in the Southern-part of France where i stayed for almost 2 weeks during my summer vacation there in France......chewah,,,summer vacation eh...hehehe

ok here it is where i stayed for almost 2 weeks in the southern part of France.....
in a village name Caunes-Minervois...

this is the house that my bro-in-law and my Sis bought.
some kind of vacation house lah i can say.
if u guys are planning to go for holiday in the southern part of France, this is one of the house that u can rent lah.

so, if u wanted to know more about the house and planning your trip to the southern part of France, and havent had any plans of where to stay, u can contact my bro in law (John), or my sis (Hasnah), to rent the house thru this website........

http://myfrancehome.com/

ok, telling u my experience during my stay inside the house was like....
well, i must admit that, my first night inside the 500 years old house was quite eerie.....
i mean, yes, staying inside the old house which was built 500 years ago, even before the roman rule, yep...i must say aku ada sedikit seram sejuk....huhuhuhuhu....

but later the next evening when i started to appreciate the historical side of the village and started to aprreciate the feeling of how the people in the village lived during the olden days dated back during the renaissance...i mean we are talking about hundreds of years punya civilizations of human kind......pehhhhhh....memang layan beb

the front view of the house.

the front view of the house

this one is viewed from a door of another house which is located opposite of the house

inside of the house where most of the old paintings and most of the old furniture is still kept from the previous owner of the house to preserve the old-feeling bila kita masuk sini.
the house is well equipped with tv which u can see all the 5 french channel, a dvd player, and the most important thing is it is well equipped with a wireless broadband lah....
so u can just bring ur lappie and stay connected to the world.
thats the most important thing yg ada inside this hundreds year old-house.

view of the toilet+bathroom of the house

another part of the house seen thru the kitchen door.....this is where my bilik is....i sleep there inside the bilik which is located at the back of the house...
those 2 doors seen here is the doors of the laundry room where u can find washing machine and a dryer located inside of the room....kira bilik store+laundry lah

the stairs that leads to the room where i stayed during my time dekat sana.....
as u can see here, the room at the back of the house is the room yg paling best lah to me, as u can see the clear blue sky during the day, and of course bila malam u can just sit at the stairs and gazing at the stars yg memang clear dekat sini....memang layannnnn

the left side of the photo is the bilik where i stayed during my visit there....and at the right of the photo is the view of another room available for at least one people....

i just loves seeing the clear blue sky as these photos shown as viewed from the bilik...

and when the nights came, i just sit and enjoy watching at the stars yg memang begemerlapan every night.....memang best....cuma yg tak best nye aku nye sensor kotor....so gambar star trails tak berapa menjadi.....

Caunes Minervois 1

ok.....most of my friends keep asking me, "hang dok mana kat France?"
well, i just said that ...."well....aku ada kampung kat sana.."....
hahahaha...poyo je ye.......hahaha

well, i can consider my self lucky lah since i was invited by my sis and bro-in-law to join him to come over to Caunes which is where they have bought a property somewhere in the Languedoc Region which is located at the southern part of France.

the red-colored region shown at the bottom of the France map is where the Languedoc-Roussillon region located at.
the region was actually known as County of Toulouse but was changed to Languedoc-Roussillon.
the 5 largest metropolitan which is located under this region is Toulouse, Montpellier, Nimes, Beziers, and Ales, which of course the familiar names to me are only Toulouse and Montpellier.
both of the cities claim to be the capital city of the region though in the 18th century, the monarchy clearly stated that Montpellier is the clear favorites to become the capital city though now people always in favour of Toulouse due to the bigger number of population and its always known for where the Airbus headquarters is located at.
so here i am basically spending about 2 weeks in this region of Languedoc-Roussillon.

so here in the Languedoc-Roussillon region where i spent my 2 weeks of "lepaking".
ahh...talking about the property my sis and bro-in-law bought which is located in an area named Caunes-Minervois.
Caunes-Minervois ni kira kawasan kampung ulu gila babas la kat dalam this region of Languedoc_Roussillon nih....
its just one of the village located inside this Languedoc-Roussillon region nih....
its located somewhere 2 hours drive away of Montpellier or Toulouse lah....
kira kampung Caunes-Minervois nih dok kat tgh2 la in between of Toulouse and Montpellier.
i will explain about the kampung Caunes-Minervois later in another posting ya

these are the photos of one of the major attraction which is located near to the village of Caunes-Minervois.
these are actually some of the ruined Cathar castles which is located up there at one of the mountains somewhere near the kampung Caunes-Minervois nih.
its just one of the best view i ve ever seen during my 2 weeks stay in the Languedoc-Roussilon region.

all of the images above are the images of the ruined castle of the Cathars.
the Catharism was a name given to a christian religious sect which only appear in the Languedoc-Roussillon region and some part of europe in the 11th century and flourished till the 13th centuries.

however, the sect was declared heretical(menyimpang) by the Roman Catholic Church just because they believes in piety(religious to God) and poverty which in contrast to the Catholic Church where the church at that time was leading to a lush and decadent lifestyle.
so since the Cathar and the Church tak ngam, the Church had asked Simon de Montfort to root out those 'evil' Cathars.
the solution to the problem is simple, for Simon de Montfort.
if the Cathars wont come back to the 'true' teachings of the church, then just kill the Cathars.
so yes, ten of thousands of the Cathars were killed in the span of 50 years.
what is left is just the ruined of the Cathars castle which is still here at the Languedoc-Roussillon region, somewhere near the village of Caunes-Minervois.

ps-its just amazing thinking how people just simply kill others who have different teachings and oppinions from others.
we as a human being always feel that God is always on our side and thus lead us to believe that those who are different from us should be killed.
sitting there on top of the mountains and seeing the view of the ruined castles and imagining how miserable the life for the Cathars at that time which was being hunted by the church's army was simply just an amazing experience for me lah i can say

another kind of street performing artist

heres another one with a kind of costume yg menarik pada aku

ahah, these two performing artist are the crowd favourites. seriously. me too not spared been entertained by these two artists. memang layan

as u can see here, the metal container which is there near the artist is where u can put some coins inside. once u throw in some coins inside, then they will put up some show for you. some kind of performance yg u akan entertained lah for sure.

some of the crowd were enjoying the show, and took the opportunity to get some photographs with the artist.
so, if u re interested to get ur photos with these two talented young artists, u just put some coins inside the container provided, and they will pose with u for the photographs to be taken by your family members.

what i like most about these two artist are, the expressions shown on their faces.
they just make those faces which i can consider funny faces that will make the crowd laughs. they are truly an entainer lah i can say. a world class entertainer

these are the two fotos that i enjoyed most....that guy was like a really excited to imitate the artist's action, but the artist seems to be not impressed at all......and of course,to the laughter of the crowd.....memang kelakar la depa nih

that lady wanted to have some photos with the artists, so she put in some money, to the delight of the artists, and was invited by the artists to get in by his side and pose for the camera

heres another lady yg interested to pose for the camera with the artists

another kind of street performing artist. shes a painter. with paintings yg macam surreal punya kind of subject.....nice

smiling artist with the subject.
this kind of portrait will cost you some 50 euro lah if not mistaken.
but i can guarantee that you'll be satisfied lah with the end result of the portarit of you drawn on the white canvas.....memang lawa giler

yawnnnnnn

they are not the street performing artist....nope....
they are just an illegal trader selling imitation nye barang2 like seen here, selling some branded handbags to the tourist.
but still mahal lah compared to our own jalan TAR and the chow kit road.

ok.... back to the street performing artist lah yg still working at the wee hours of the day...

in order to get their attention is, to throw in some coins inside the container lah....
so i got this photo lah, portrait of the artist with the eye contact lah...huhuhuhu...
melayang 1 euro aku....huhuhuhu

another example of a street performance presented by this talented couple by dancing the tango to the beat of the music played on their cd player that they brought along with them. seen there at the foto below, a hat being put by the side of the road for the tourist to throw some coins inside

Moulin Rouge

Moulin means WindMill, and Rouge is Red....
so basically, the Moulin Rouge means the Red Windmill lah in English.

yes, i agree that i ve learned sikit about this red windmill thru itu Hollywood nye movie lah yg Nicole Kidman belakon tu....
i admit that i havent finished pon watching that movie.
but bila sampai kat area Montmartre ni, where Moulin Rouge is situated at, aku pon interested la pulak tgh dok carik the dvd of that movie, nak layan balik apa ke sebenornye Moulin Rouge nih....

well, based on my reading lah, Moulin Rouge is a cabaret built in 1889 by Joseph Oller.
cabaret ni actually is a restaurant where we'll be entertained by a live show lah yg performed by artist on the stage.
so, maknanya, kita masuk je Moulin Rouge nih, and dok kat table, sambil order makan minum, sambil tu kita layan lah nengok show atas stage tu....
those shows lak varies lah from all sorts of entertainment such as comedy, song, dance and theatre lah.....so kita layan je lah watching all the performance shown on the stage...

well apart of all the performance nih, theres a cancan dancers performs lah kat dalam....
aku nak cerita banyak pasal cancan dancers ni pon aku tak tau.....pasal aku tak masuk dalam Moulin Rouge nih....wpon aku teringin nak masuk...
tapi memandangkan aku solo je masa nih, aku pon lepak kat luar amik gamba je la...
kalao aku ngn kawan2 aku nih, sure masuk da nih...huhuhuhuhuhu

well, since aku nak cite lebeh2 pon aku tak sure, so aku paste je lah some text extracted from wikipedia lah about this cancan dancers inside the Moulin Rouge nih....

Can-can at the Moulin Rouge

The main feature of an evening at the Moulin Rouge is the performance. The venue has become internationally famous as the home of the traditional French can-can, which is still performed there today.

The can-can existed for many years as a respectable, working-class party dance, but it was in the early days of the Moulin Rouge that courtesans first adapted the dance to entertain the male clientele. The dance was usually performed individually, with courtesans moving in an energetic and provocative way in an attempt to seduce potential clients. It was common for them to lift their skirts and reveal their legs, underwear and occasionally the genitals, and as time progressed can-cans seen at the Moulin Rouge became increasingly vulgar and overtly erotic, causing much public outrage.

Later however, with the rising popularity of music hall entertainment in Europe, courtesans were no longer required at the Moulin Rouge and it became a legitimate nightclub. The modern can-can was born as dancers (many of them failed ballet dancers with exceptional skill) were introduced to entertain the guests. The can-can that we recognise today comes directly from this period and, as the vulgarity of the dance lessened, it became renowned for its athletic and acrobatic tricks.

The Moulin Rouge lost much of its former reputation as a 'high-class brothel' and it soon became fashionable for French society to visit and see the spectacular cabarets, which have included a can-can ever since. The dance is recognisable for the long skirts with heavily frilled undergarments that the dancers wear, high kicks, hops in a circle whilst holding the other leg in the air, splits, cartwheels and other acrobatic tricks, normally accompanied by squeals and shrieks. Whilst the dance became less crude, the choreography has always intended to be a little risqué and somewhat provocative.

here is the link to the full article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moulin_Rouge

my first shot of the Moulin Rouge.....theres so many people outside of this cabaret and nak tak nak, terpaksa gak termasuk those people inside the photo.....
photo captured as the camera is placed on a tripod that i brought along with me malam tu....

the image of the Moulin Rouge at night.....the word 'Feerie' means the show contains of 4 main scenes with the total of 69 songs where all of the acts are performed by 100 artists termasuk lah all the dancers, acrobats, magicians and clowns.
so the performance inside there varies lah....so kita layan je la sambil makan2 minum2.

people queing to get inside the Moulin Rouge

ahh...ni gambar lama....Molen in Amsterdam....ni baru betul nye Molen.....heheheh...
Molen means Windmill in Dutch
